About Beach Haven House
The upper level of Beach Haven house provides more than 1400 square feet of first class accommodation for up to 8 persons (2 queens, 2 singles, 1 double). The open concept living room, dinning room and kitchen have a glorious pine cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, a woodstove/fireplace and wonderful ocean views.

The glassed in sun porch provides panoramic 270 degree views
of the open ocean and the waves from England and France breaking on
the reef, as well as Frying Pan Island and the scenic Port Medway
lighthouse. The sun porch is also an ideal place to watch the many
birds and animals that frequent the property.
The Optional Lower Level
Guests who wish may have double the space, and the views, by adding on the spacious and bright lower level of Beach Haven.
Previously known as ‘Wind Song' and
the summer home of a Swiss gentleman for 14 years until we bought it
in 2003, Beach Haven has an interesting 'architectural' history. The
main level was built as a complete house (with the three bedrooms,
2 bathrooms, open concept living room, dining room and kitchen all
with a pine cathedral ceiling). He then had the whole house raised
and put in a complete downstairs, so the 'lower level' is much higher
and brighter then a conventional basement. It is only about 2.5 feet
below grade.
In keeping with the Swiss style, there is no connecting inside stairway between the main level and the lower level. Instead, one goes into the lower level directly from the outside.
The lower level is beautifully
finished with hardwood floors and pine walls. It consists of a huge
recreation room with a regulation Brunswick slate
pool table, a large bedroom (twins) and a spacious three piece
bath. This extra space is a perfect add on for large family gatherings.
Or it would offer a quiet working space for guests who are taking
a ‘working
holiday'.
This lower level is
available for an extra fee only to families or groups who are renting
the main level (that is we never rent it as a separate unit) for an
extra fee - see our rates page for pricing
details.
Assurance of quality is featured with excellent housekeeping and a fully equipped home away from home: spacious glassed in sun porch, ocean-view deck with outdoor furniture, woodstove fireplace, kitchen with 6 full-sized appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave), kitchenware, very comfortable beds (2 queens, 4 singles, 1 double), excellent linens, satellite TV, VCR, phone/fax, stereo, quality furnishings, books and games, picnic table, gas BBQ.
Things to do on the property:
With six plus acres to explore,
there are a wide range of opportunities, from relaxing on the deck
with a book to more active pursuits such as ocean swimming and beach
combing.
A dream location for photographers and other artists.
An organic vegetable and herb garden, a lily pond, flower beds
and closed cropped lawns are available close to the house.
Groomed
paths lead to the saltwater pond and your own private sand and pebble
beach, offering endless opportunities for swimming, beach combing,
exploring the rocks and tidal pools, beach campfires, bird watching
(e.g. eagles, cormorants, osprey, sea ducks, piping plovers) and animal
watching (e.g. seals, foxes, rabbits, raccoons).
An all-but-deserted world class white sand beach is a two minute stroll down our private lane.
